“Making peace” presupposes alienation of some sort.
Nations settle military conflicts via peace accords. America’s War for Independence from Great Britain, for example, was settled on September 3, 1783 by a treaty, the Peace of Paris.
Individuals settle conflicts through admission of wrongs committed and acts of forgiveness.
The most serious of all alienations exists between God and humankind. But rather than declaring war to settle the alienation, God offers his peace freely to all who seek it.
